Can You Read a Map?
Published in Library Binding by Econo-Clad Books (August, 1996)
Average review score:

good for teaching ESLThe book may be intended to supplement a lesson on reading maps, but it has other uses also. It is written in a simple repeated pattern, which makes it easy for the ESL student to follow. Until the last sentence, each sentence follows the pattern "Can you find [name or common noun] [apostrophe-S] house?" This renders the book valuable for a lesson on the interrogative form or a lesson on the possessive S. If you use the "Let's Go" series, it could also be valuable for a lesson on the word "can."

Can you speak Venusian? : a guide to the independent thinkers
Published in Unknown Binding by I. Henry ()
Average review score:

Stupid People alert! The title of this book, Can You Speak Venusian?, basically says it all. When I first found this book in the stacks of my local library, I thought it was about some crackpot's insane theory; instead, it lambasts a number of crackpots and their equally-cracked pet ideas. Astronomer Patrick Moore ponders the various theories of Flat Earthers, channelers, crystal gazers, people who believe we live on the inside of the Earth, and the like. He calls them Independent Thinkers -- I call them kooks. He's a scientist (apparently self-taught) and does the Independent Thinkers the great disservice of taking them seriously. For example, he is "ill-mannered enough" to ask a man channeling Aetherius, an ET who can speak all Earth's languages, questions in both French and Norwegian that Aetherius somehow can't understand. The book is amusing, but has a slight mocking tone. A great read for skeptical thinkers, but it'll be lost on the vast array of Stupid People(tm) who like to believe stupid things.

Case Studies in Applied Sport Psychology an Educational Approach: An Educational Approach
Published in Paperback by Kendall/Hunt Publishing Company (July, 1998)
Average review score:

Delivers an insightful view of the mental side of sports! The case studies provide an excellent flavor of the mental side of sports for all you "armchair" athletes and sports psychologists to savor. As a psychologist and self-proclaimed athlete, I was entertained and enlightened by the multitude of case studies that Thompson and Vernacchia chose to explore. I found myself relating my own sports-related challenges to those offered in the book. The funnest part was formulating my own hypotheses about the various issues that were presented in each case. This is a must read for anyone who has been frustrated by the challenges of competitive athletics. You're not alone! However, you might find that you're #1 competitor resides in the barriers that you have built in your own mind. Learn how to knock down, or atleast, get around those self-imposed barriers.

Casualty of War
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (18 December, 2001)
Average review score:

History mixed with a great storyKim Moore obviously has a real grasp of Irish history and locations. She's written a great book that combines Irish locales as well as more familiar landmarks in Boston, Chicago and Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The main character becomes involved with an IRA terrorist, and life takes her on a rollercoaster ride as she endures the hardships of a relationship with someone she rarely sees. When she gets forced into hiding terrorists in her basement apartment, the story takes an unanticipated twist, and the ending is a huge surprise! Well done!!

Catherine Lucille Moore & Henry Kuttner : a marriage of souls and talent : a working bibliography
Published in Unknown Binding by V. Utter ()
Average review score:

The basic bibliography for Kuttner and MooreAlthough Amazon.com in the U.S. says this book is OP, check the British branch ("United Kingdom"); the 4th rev. edition (of 1996) is available from Galactic Central Publications. This bibliography, by Virgil Utter, Gordon Benson Jr., and Phil Stephensen-Payne, lists the works of C. L. Moore, the works of Henry Kuttner by himself and in collaboration with Moore, and material about them. In that third section appears a section of "Related Items by Other Authors," including David Drake's works in the world of Kuttner and Moore's "Clash by Night" and Robert Silverberg's "In Another Country," a tie-in with Moore's "Vintage Season." The editors miss the depiction of Moore in H. H. Holmes' (Anthony Boucher's) _Rocket to the Morgue_. But the basic interest is in the original works by the two authors--36 stories, 2 novels, and several collections by Moore; 307 stories by Kuttner (52 of them in collaboration with Moore), 16 novels (most with Moore), and a large number of collections. The book also lists the two series of stories by Moore (Jirel of Joiry and Northwest of Earth) and the twelve series by Kuttner (including Galloway Gallegher, Hogben, and Michael Gray). A truly excellent work for the fans of the Kuttner and Moore fantasies, science fiction, and mysteries.
